Indonesian Muslim Association in America (IMAAM) was established on December 21, 1993 by a group of Indonesian who lived in Washington Metro area. Then IMAAM granted as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established in the State of Maryland on December 24, 1994.

IMAAM Center, a distinguished Sunni Muslim House of Worship; was inaugurated on September 26th, 2014, It graced by the presence of His Excellency President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the esteemed President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Under the guidance of IMAAM, IMAAM Center stands as a beacon of spiritual solace and serenity for all who seek closeness to the Almighty God, Allah.

IMAAM is dedicated to serving the Muslim community in the United States by fostering a deep connection with the Almighty God, building a prosperous Muslim economy, and cultivating a strong foundation of ethics and unity. We strive to empower individuals to fulfill their responsibilities as active and compassionate citizens, making a positive impact on society as a whole.

At IMAAM Center, we are dedicated to fostering a thriving Muslim community in the United States, deeply rooted in unwavering faith, united in a shared purpose, and actively contributing to the well-being of society. Guided by our devotion to the Almighty God, we endeavor to not only enhance our economic prosperity but also cultivate a moral compass that exemplifies integrity, compassion, and justice.

Through promoting unity and embodying the principles of good citizenship, we aspire to shine as a guiding light, serving as an exemplary Islamic organization that positively impacts the lives of Muslims and the broader community.
 

Our mission is guided by the following principles:

  1. Reminding Muslims about the Almighty God: At IMAAM Center, we believe that our ultimate purpose in life is to worship and seek the pleasure of the Almighty God. Through educational programs, spiritual guidance, and community events, we aim to continuously remind Muslims of their divine purpose and strengthen their relationship with Allah, enabling them to lead lives of faith, humility, and devotion.
  2. Building and uplifting Muslim well-being and a strong Muslim economy: We recognize the importance of holistic well-being, including both spiritual and material aspects. IMAAM is committed to providing resources, support, and opportunities to Muslims in the United States, enabling them to thrive economically. By fostering entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and professional development, we strive to create a strong Muslim economy that contributes to the well-being of individuals, families, and the wider community.
  3. Building a strong foundation of ethics and morals according to Islamic teachings: Islamic teachings provide a comprehensive framework for living a righteous and ethical life. IMAAM is dedicated to promoting the teachings of Islam, emphasizing values such as honesty, integrity, compassion, and justice. Through educational initiatives, workshops, and community programs, we aim to build a strong foundation of ahlaq (ethics) and moral principles within our community, enabling Muslims to exemplify the best of character in their personal and professional lives.
  4. Building strong unity within the Muslim community: Unity is a source of strength and resilience for any community. At IMAAM, we strive to foster a sense of unity among Muslims in the United States, transcending differences of nationality, culture, and sectarian affiliations. Through interfaith dialogues, collaborative projects, and inclusive events, we seek to build bridges and cultivate an atmosphere of mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation among Muslims.
  5. Promoting good citizenship and community service: Islam encourages its followers to be active and engaged citizens, contributing positively to society.
